Disclaimers, Commenting and Such...
When I'm writing my blog posts, I do not write them to be specifically directed towards or about anyone unless I make note that they are (such as my posts about my friends).
I write only my own opinions and give advice based on them and what I have been taught from God's Word. Unless I make special mention of something being actual Biblical doctrine, I do not intend for anyone to make the mistake of me trying to make my opinions appear to be Biblical doctrine. I cannot find a verse which states preachers cannot have beards, that you can only marry after a certain age, or that going to a movie theater will cause you to lose your salvation- just like I doubt anyone can. When I say something, I am stating my opinion on it only.
You may agree with me, or you may not. That is entirely your decision, one which I respect your right to employ. But I ask for the same respect of my views and opinions as you would want of yours. I do not ask you to agree with me, but you must also respect me when I do not agree with you.
The best rule you can live by when reading my blog is this: If you don't like something I have written, please feel free to stop reading there and move on. There is no need for ugly arguments or comments or debates.
As I've had some pretty bitter, hateful comments and messages come to my other blog, I decided it was time to adjust how readers can comment.
From now on, you'll be required to sign in under your Google account in order to comment.
This prevents attempts to use the anonymous commenting feature from bullies and those who are spamming, as well as those who have nothing constructive or godly to say, to me or to other commenters. This also allows me to decline messages and comments from those who are recognized as bullies, are spamming comments and message inboxes, or only here to harass people.
While I am 100% for freedom of speech and understand that not everyone will agree on everything, I am 100% against bullying, and I am also 100% against being hateful, bitter, and cruel online when representing the name of Christ. I'm sure my readers will understand that I had to put this new restriction in place in order to protect my readers and those who comment on posts from being harassed or bullied through my blog.
The following guidelines will now be in place:
- Comments which are intended only to hurt, harass, or insult will not be published.
- Comments which express a disagreeing view of my posts/comments on posts are welcome, so long as they are made in a respectful, proper manner, and are not directed as personal insults towards the author or other commenters. Any comments which cannot express disagreeing views in a respectful and decent manner without insults or fighting will not be published.
- Comments which are obviously spam will not be published.
- Comments which express any form of racism, bigotry, or hate will not be published.
- Comments which are direct insult or harassment of the author or other commenters will not be published.
- Comments which are vulgar or disrespectful will not be published.
- Comments intended solely to start fights or bully will not be published.
